| Abstract: Functional outsourcing
across projects has become more popular in recent years. As companies begin to
use a core competency outsourcing strategy, more functions are beginning to be
looked at as a target for outsourcing. Smaller specialty providers are becoming
functional providers for services normally outsourced to CROs as part of a full
program. These services include: Investigator contracts, consulting and other
service agreements, regulatory document processing, medical writing, and site
identification, to name a few. The panel will discuss the reasons behind this
change, the pros and cons of this outsourcing strategy, and present case
studies of their own experiences. The panel will discuss the internal resources
needed to manage this model effectively and the ROI companies have experienced
when outsourcing these functions. The panel will consist of two large pharma
and one biotech sponsor that are actively using this model to achieve time and
cost savings, as well as consistency across projects and programs. |
